Abound in Hope

2020 news 1 template 2020 was a year many would like to forget—with social unrest, political discord, isolation, illness, and death.

In a recent article for P&B Quarterly, Rev. Daron Brown wrote that the problems we faced in 2020 are not over and called readers to lament the present, remember the past, and hope for the future. In part, he said, “Our hope is a living hope because our Lord is a living Lord. We approach these days with confidence as we are drawn forward by a vision of God’s future—God’s Kingdom fully come.”

As we reflect on how God has cared for us in times of suffering and loss, we are reminded that He too suffered and died, that we might have hope. As Rev. Brown declared: “Our hope is a living hope because our Lord is a living Lord.”

Whatever happens in the New Year, let us rest in the peace of knowing that because we are God’s children, we have hope.

“Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” (Rom 15:13).
